New Trey Anastasio Album Due July 24
Trey Anastasio is scheduled to release a new album, “The Horseshoe Curve,” on July 24. The instrumental album is a return to Trey’s solo roots, complete with horn section, multiple percussionists and Trey leading the way as a modern-day big band leader. Trey last two albums were departures from this style, but his return to this form will be welcomed by many fans who loved the...
Google Docs & Spreadsheets Gets New Interface
Google just rolled out a new interface for their Docs & Spreadsheets program. Below is a preview with my personal docs and spreadsheets blurred out. It looks an awful lot like an explorer-type window, perfect for file storage, backup, etc. Stay tuned.

GrandCentral Goes to Google?
Google may be about to purchase GrandCentral. If so, congratulations go out to the guys at GrandCentral. They worked extremely hard to build a superior service. I recently used GC in my search for employment and it was completely reliable. The “phone number for life” concept is a real winner and GC’s feature-rich service allows for advanced customization and configuration of your...

Mahalo Better Than Google? Sometimes.
Mahalo, Jason Calacanis’ new startup search engine, is implementing a fascinating approach to search engine results. Instead of going the way of the algorithm - the automated scoring process for determining search engine results pages (SERPs) that appear after a query is tendered - Mahalo’s SERPs are hand-crafted. Every page of results is created, reviewed and maintained by actual...

A Great Parody for Those People-Ready Businesses
We’ve all learned alot about “people-ready” businesses in the last day or so. Now, along comes a great parody site complete with quotes from MSM stars. Although most of the A-Listers involved in this controversy will never admit that what they did was improper, Wipe Ready shines the light on what would happen if you follow the snowball effect downhill. I like Geraldo’s...
Jarvis Exposes Slimy Federated Media Tactic
Buzz Machine author Jeff Jarvis has absolutely nailed it. Not only does he thoroughly take the the “people-ready” bloggers to task, he exposes a slimy advertising tactic used by Federated Media. Apparently, Jarvis was approached by FM to write a blurb for the “human network” which FM would then edit and add to Wikipedia for a whopping $559! Mind you, FM has been rightfully...

Manufactured Content
A weekend fire-storm is brewing over the issue of A-List bloggers who were paid to participate in an advertising campaign. Microsoft wanted some social media coverage and buzz for its products and services. They took their desire to Federated Media who roped in publishers on its advertising network to participate. So far, so good. Things took a turn for the worse when those publishers were asked...

Sue Decker Still Matters, Just Not As Much
Yahoo president Sue Decker was recently featured in a Business 2.0 article entitled “The 50 Who Matter Now.” Sue had a great write-up and she was ranked at #7. However, this has to hurt:
In the new role, her not-small task is to reposition Yahoo by tweaking its Panama ad system to deliver more customers to advertisers and more profit to publishers. Amid growing nervousness about...

Did TechCrunch Pull Its Wesabe Post?
I doubt there is anything sinister going on here. The image below is from my rss reader. I thought the story was interesting so I clicked on the permalink to view the comments. Nothing. The story disappeared from TechCrunch. Maybe it’s a Wordpress issue or some other technical glitch. Or, maybe Arrington got a call from Wesabe or from Fred demanding that the post be pulled. That scenario is...
